If the reports are to be believed, then Apple may soon come up with its own processor. This news has been doing rounds from quite some time now. But this time Bloomberg has claimed that this might just happen by next year.
According to the report, the company is building three different chipsets. The more intelligent and powerful one might be used for Mac. This lineup would be called A14. It will be a successor of the A13 bionic. It is not yet confirmed how many macs will feature with the new range of chipsets. But it is believed that at least one might.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) appears to be the partner firm in manufacturing these with Apple. The chipsets would be built for iPhones, i-Pads and new Macs. All the three System on a Chip (SoCs) are believed to be 5-nanometer node based productions.
Codenamed as Firestorms the chipsets will be compatible for macs. These will have eight high performance cores. They will be paired with icestorms that’ll pair with four cores. The icestorms would work as energy efficient cores. They are also building very powerful future machines with processors of 12 cores.
To compete with Intel they are planning to provide double the number of cores that Intel provides in its processors. If all this comes true then Apple macs are surely going to be one of the best products available in the market. It will also ease the production for Apple as they’d have more control over its components.
Will it have any effect on the price or not is yet to be seen. But for all this we will have to wait to first have an Apple inside.
