The schools situated in North Dallas, Garland, and Richardson had to cancel classes this Monday as the damage caused on the campuses by the tornado that rumbled the area on late Sunday night, needs careful assessment.
The classes at 20 campuses were cancelled by the Dallas ISD, out of which six were because of the extreme damage caused and 14 due to power outages. The list of DISD schools that were closed because of damage includes –Edward H. Cary Middle School, John J. Pershing Elementary School, Walnut Hill Elementary School, Leonides Gonzalez Cigarroa Elementary School, Thomas Jefferson High School, and David G. Burnet Elementary School.
Among all the others, Cary and Walnut Hill particularly have experienced severe damage and were knocked roughly by the storm on Sunday night as it pushed through the North Dallas’ Walnut Hill Lane.
According to the District officials, even the buses have ceased working who would instead usually pick up the students from these school campuses to take them to other specialty schools. The announcement was also made by Richardson ISD on Monday about the cancellation of all the classes and any of the districtwide events at least for the day because of the humongous damaged caused from the storm accompanying the unsafe conditions along.
