Blackmagic Design has released a new compact camera meant mainly for cinematography, the S35 Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. The camera looks quite similar to previous year’s 4K camera; however, it comes with big-sized Super 35 sensor, with a 6144×3456 resolution.
Apart from the resolution, the switch that comes along Super 35 would let you shoot much better in low-light and also help have better control on field depth. The new 6K camera uses the EF lens mount by Canon, with the company claiming thirteen stops with regards to dynamic range. Besides, the camera comes with dual gain ISO of 200 and maximum 25,600.
The body of the Pocket 6K is made of light-weight carbon fiber polycarbonate composite. In terms of connectivity, the camera features a lot of options which include full size HDMI, mini XLR, DC power, USB-C, headphone output, and mic input. Moreover, The BMPCC 6K is mainly operated by a 5-inch touchscreen just like the 4K variant.
The Pocket Cinema Camera 6K, which is available for sale now, can be bought at a price of $2,495. The camera is much affordable in comparison to other 6K cameras such as Panasonic S1H. In fact, it is just a fraction of the cost of other comparable RAW shooters from ARRI and RED.
